HISTORY
Adam Klein Chapter #3, Disabled American Veterans, is a chartered member of the DAV National Organization. The chapter was chartered on May 2, 1931 as Bismarck-Mandan Chapter 3. In 2000, the chapter was renamed in honor of a charter member and decorated World War 1 veteran. Adam Klein was born in 1893 in Russia. His family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a child. He entered the U.S. Army Infantry in 1917 and served with distinction. He was wounded twice in France and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was also awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in combat. He is buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck. Each Memorial Day, the chapter proudly renders military honors at the grave site of Adam Klein, a great American patriot.
